Easy does it. I’m pretty sure that the analytics on LinkedIn aren’t designed so you and your beer-drinking buddy give each other the smackdown! But then again, perhaps the very essence of social media is bragging and comparing, otherwise why would we be able to see each other’s statistics, followers, posts, etc?
In any case, because LinkedIn evolved from being all about jobs and careers, it does a very good job of tracking who views your profile and why they did so (what words they searched, etc). It’s kind of like match.com, really, but let’s not go too far down that road!
On LinkedIn, you can find the states you seek by going to the Profile menu:
As you can see, it’s easy enough: Who’s Viewed Your Profile.
Click on that and you get a big, bold display featuring a graph of how your profile’s been trending in views over the last 90 days:
On the right you can see some more specific stats, showing that I’ve had 57 profile views in the last 4 days (I’m writing this on May 14), for a projected weekly rate of 91 views.
Since you’re competitive, click on the tap labeled How you rank for profile views and you should be able to see how you rank compared to your buddy, assuming you’re linked on LI:
You can see that I’m in the top 2% for my circle of 3113 people on LinkedIn. Not sure it’ll win me any bets, but it’s still pretty darn good.
Scroll down and you can see one more interesting thing: who’s viewed your profile:
Not sure what the deal is with all the anonymous people viewing my profile, but I’ll just chalk it up to either fans or stalkers. Or both.
